Why is There Suffering in the World?

Posted by:

By Kristen O’Hara

In a world filled with pain and tragedy, it can be hard to understand why a loving God would allow such suffering. The key to understanding is knowing that human suffering was never God’s intention. It was God’s intention to walk together with man in a pleasant and fruitful garden. It was God’s intention to make man in His image to love freely and to freely be loved. However, in weakness, man abused that freedom and chose to ...

Thoughts on the Limitless from a Limited Time/Space Continuum

by Mike Lehnherr

One evening in 1988, I was sitting on the front steps of our Army housing in Ft. Leavenworth, KS, with our seven-year old daughter, Erin. She looked at me and asked, “Dad, what is infinity minus one?” To which I replied, “infinity.” Her response was, “I know. I just wanted to see if you did.” A six year old daughter, being home-schooled by a friend at Harmony asked a similar question. “Mom, ...

Lies

by Kristen O’Hara

Lies. They creep into our minds, seemingly irrelevant. Yet, they are dangerously deceiving.

Lies trap us in our thinking. They hold us back and stunt our growth. We don’t always recognize them, but our actions often reveal these deeply-rooted deceptions that keep us from experiencing God’s best. If we can uncover the lies (and release them to God), we will experience new freedoms and a more intricate faith.

How can I know that God exists or that He is real, I mean I can’t see Him, I can’t taste Him nor can I hear Him. How can I know that this invisible entity is what or who I’m supposed to put my trust and faith into? How can I be sure I won’t be let down? These questions and many more plague us often times, and we spend most of our existence in some way or ...

How Do I Know Christianity is Right for Me?

Posted by:

By Kristen O’Hara

Choosing Christianity is like coming home. It is warm, comfortable, familiar. It is something you have always known . . . a truth that has resonated in your core, awaiting the opportunity to come to life.

Christianity is truth. It is centered on God’s supreme sovereignty and His overwhelming, abundant love, as is evidenced in the person of Jesus Christ and His willing sacrifice. Unfortunately, Christianity is often distorted. Many falsely believe that it is about self-righteousness, judgment and ...

How are we affected by sin?

The first time I heard the term “glass ceiling” I honestly thought that would be a gorgeous addition to a house. Wouldn’t it be beautiful to look up and see the blue sky or to watch the rain come down during a storm? My logic quickly changed when the term was explained to me.

A glass ceiling is a limit, typically not discussed or acknowledged, that keeps a person from a better position, placement, or promotion. While glass ceilings ...

Everyone has a name: (insert yours here) ________ ____________.

So what is the big deal about a name? And why is an article about God starting with yours? Answer: names hold so much power.

I fully admit that I have answered to many names thus far in my life: some have been great terms of endearment given me by close family and friends, others have been titles or honors I’ve earned, and still others have been scarlet letters of shame, ...
