Do you believe there is something more to your life beyond your normal experience? That this “something more” is spiritual? The reason you feel this way is because it is true.
Everyone has a spiritual part of us that is waiting to come alive. Our spirits come to life when we connect to God. He loves us in ways that are beyond how any other person can love us. He hurts when we hurt, gets angry when evil happens, and wants to help us with our problems. He is the essence of love, peace, wisdom and joy. In fact, those are words for describing what happens in us when we connect to His Spirit.
Jesus, God’s son, wants to have an intimate relationship with us. He doesn’t expect you to be perfect. He knows very well that you’re not. Still, God wants to be real and active in your life. He would never force himself on us, so He can only talk to us if we are willing to listen. When we connect to Jesus, He will bring our spirits to life.
It’s not complicated. Because God loves you so much, He is waiting for you to talk with Him. Just be as honest with God as you can. You could pray something like this:
“Please allow me to connect with you, Jesus. I know that I’m not perfect but you love me anyway. I need your help in my life. I want to know your love and let your Spirit guide me.”
Jesus will help us in very practical ways (how to get along with our parents/children, work out problems with our spouse, etc) when we listen to Him, meditate on the Scriptures, and hang around with other believers.
