John DI didn’t want God spoiling my fun.

I always knew of God the Creator, but I kept my guard up by not letting Him get too close. I mean, I didn’t want God spoiling my fun! I thought that’s what God did.

During a time of hopelessness, I let my guard down and called out for God’s help. He was there for me and He held me in His loving way. I began to learn how big God’s love is and I felt so foolish for resisting that love for 53 years of my life.

Sometime after giving my life to Jesus, I realized that the Holy Spirit had moved into my heart, unannounced, and was changing me! I’d find myself in situations thinking and acting differently. Somehow, doing the right thing had become easy. Well, sometimes at least. Other times I’m still the same old me. But not quite–because I now have the hope of God’s promises.

Most importantly, today I want everyone one to know that concerning my salvation and the transformation God is guiding me through–all the glory goes to God! He has done it all. He never gives up on me and all I had to do was quit resisting Him.

When I walked through the door I knew I was home!

My family and I came to Harmony Vineyard 2 years ago. We had only been saved for about 3 years and had been receiving a firm foundation at another church when God told us to leave there. We left, not knowing where we were going, but God did. About 2 weeks later I received a Kindness To Go bag while at the bread store with my children. My husband and I checked out the website and were excited about visiting the next Sunday. Even from that first time, when I walked through the door I knew I was home! I was immediately drawn to the hearts of the people. They cared! They really cared about us! Harmony Vineyard is a place to come in broken and be loved into maturity. It’s impossible to be here for very long and not see the loving kindness within the staff and Pastors here. THIS is the way church is supposed to be!

My third child was born about 5 months after we started and we had him dedicated by Pastor John a month later. I wasn’t expecting him to be as involved with it as he was. He had prayed about my son beforehand, and studied the meaning of his name. When the time came for him to be dedicated Pastor was able to pray into Joshua’s life from his heart, not just his head. I was deeply touched.

Last year was a very difficult year for me as I experienced the loss of my Uncle and Dad, as well as come face to face with some buried issues from past abuse. Pastor John made himself available, more than once, to listen and give direction in my walk. God is faithful to guide us through the storm and transform us on the way.

My family and I are eternally grateful to Pastor John and Pastor James for hearing from and obeying the Lord with His vision for this church. Thank you!

The first time that we came to Harmony, I thought is was odd for a church to smell like coffee and cappuccino when you walk in, but it was cool. On the way home, I told my wife, It’s a drive, but it’s where we’re supposed to be. We’re from Independence.

What I like about our church is Cubbies, we learn about Jesus all the time. He died on the cross and He is up in Heaven. He helps us to be not scared, and he helps me clean my room. We play games and color there too, and it is fun.

What has been the best about Harmony Vineyard is Kids Church. It has helped me to turn my heart more on to God and not anything else. One day, a guy name Ben, with black hair, sang a song about being thankful, and we got to fill in the blanks about what we were thankful for, and it really flipped me around. One of my goals is to have a thankful heart now.
