Sylvia Hanson, Bookkeeper
I came to the Lord with my husband in 1974, but because of offense, walked away from God for 11 years. In 1992 God allowed me to come back and serve Him again. I came back, He never left! Now my greatest joy is to do those things that He has for me to do! I had always wanted to have either a restaurant or a catering service. God fulfilled that desire by letting me be the leader of the Hospitality Ministry; by getting to run the Wednesday Evening Meals. Seems like a restaurant to me! He has expanded my horizons to see new ways to serve. Although, how that responds to the ministries he has for me, is still a work in progress for me. God has been good to me by letting me work among my friends! I really enjoy coming to work at the church, to talking to our parishioners and getting to love on them. I just can’t think of a better place to be!
Rachel Jones, Director of Childcare Ministry
I have been a Christian since the age of five, when I accepted Jesus as my Savior during bedtime prayers. I attended a combination of public and Christian schools as I grew up, and I was always very involved in the churches where my dad was the pastor. I graduated from Missouri Western State University with degrees in Spanish and English, and I receive a M.A. in Literature from Northwest Missouri State University in 1999. I taught junior high and high school Spanish and English for seven years and I currently homeschool my oldest child. I teach Sunday School in the 2′s and 3′s class and organize the Ladies’ Book Club here at Harmony. I am married to George Jones and we have two children, Samuel and Emma.
Don Moisant, Maintenance
Don and Christine Moisant serve Harmony doing custodial and maintenance work for the church. They have 3 children and 5 grandchildren – all girls and are expecting twin grandsons soon. The Moisants both grew up in California, he on the streets of L.A. and she in San Bernardino. They met when Christine noticed Don in the church choir and said to herself, “He’s for me.” Only 90 days later they were married in Northridge in 1979. Two of Christine’s passions are singing and children. She serves faithfully in the Awana children’s ministry. Don is ordained and his passion is serving God and his people. In the past, he has served as a youth pastor, a prison chaplain and a guard in a rehabilitation clinic.
They came to Harmony on the advice of a good friend and immediately felt at home when they walked in the door. Don says if it wasn’t for God they wouldn’t be married today. They report they have grown together spiritually during their time at Harmony Vineyard.
Barbara Squires, Executive Administrative Assistant
Barbara got saved at the age of 7 during children’s church when she was given the wordless book and heard the message of salvation. She has served in many different ministries over the years but nearest and dearest to her heart is her ministry in singing and worship. In 2007 Barbara and her husband, Reid, moved to Kansas City from North Carolina. They arrived on Wednesday and joined us for worship on Sunday morning and knew immediately that Harmony was “home.” Moving to Kansas City was an answer to 25 years of prayers for both Barbara and her parents. Reid and Barbara are “Mom and Dad” to Chris, Ryan, Morgan, Cameron and daughter-in-laws Jessica and Megan. They are Meemaw and Grandpa to Tessalyn, Meredith and Roman. Before coming to work at Harmony she served as an Administrative Assistant in four other ministries. Barbara is thankful for the opportunity to serve at Harmony Vineyard.
Ashley Truitt, Staff Assistant
Ashley has been a Christian since the age of 8, while attending church camp. As a teen, she sang in her church contemporary choir. In September 2009, she was introduced to Harmony Vineyard by her husband, Edward Truitt (who has been a member for over 11 years). In November 2010, she became a volunteer in the front office and only 6 months later, accepted a part-time position as Administrative Assistant & Children’s Ministry Assistant. She also volunteers once a week at Lewis & Clark Elementary, where 3 of her kids attend school. Ashley & Ed have 6 beautiful kids together; Jasmyn, Ashton, Hannah, Aiden, Chiara & Dominyc, all of which are very active in church, school & sports. Before Harmony Vineyard, Ashley worked 8 years as a Title Examiner/Producer for 4 different Real Estate Title Companies. She considers herself very blessed in so many ways, but is very grateful for her position and flexibility Harmony Vineyard has offered her. Because of this, she is still able to volunteer at the school and spend most of her time with her amazing Family.
